AN INSIGHT INTO NAJI
10 QUESTIONS WITH NAJI BASMA
I have specifically made fashion content consistently since 2020, but I also made a lot of Parkour content before that. I first started taking outfit pictures casually during the lockdown when I was still working as a PT and Parkour coach from home and in 2021 I made the decision to go full time as an content creator.
Doing what I love for a living, being constantly challenged to grow and developing new ideas. I also love meeting inspiring people from all over the world, wearing cool stuff, working with some of my favourite brands, and travelling to some amazing locations for work.
Overall, I'm very much inspired by cultures and history when it comes to fashion. I love the aesthetic from old Italian movies but also the rough and raw street style from skate culture, and how both reflect such practical elements within the clothing. With my style I imagine embodying a feeling or character I relate to who'd wear such a thing, and that's how I usually come up with outfits.
Of all the places, Barcelona has my heart still. I love the warm weather, the atmosphere and positive energy of the people, the mix of fashion and culture. People are always outdoors being active and having fun. Most of all I love being able to put on my skates and cruise around the city to experience all of it at once, it feels like being in a movie of my own life every time I'm there.
At the core i'm very minimalist, both in my personal life and my taste for things. I like things that work, make sense together, and easily match. I don't like to overthink when I dress, and this is why I prefer having more of a capsule wardrobe. It's practical and quick, which means I can enjoy styling pieces, looking good effortlessly, and making time for the things that matter most like experiencing life through the activities i'm passionate about.
I can't choose one haha. Top three are cargo pants, a hoodie, and a leather jacket as these usually elevate any outfit.
This year, the main lesson has been to not overthink things and just focus on doing the thing that makes the magic happen, what i'm passion about, it's that simple a lot of the time. Everything else comes from there.
It's got to be my FIELD hoodie because it's exactly the shape and fit I like in a hoodie, I can match it with anything.
I wanted to create a hoodie which matches everyone's style and needs no matter what field they are interested in and is also functional for that activity. E.g. a loose fit for sports, roomy with space to move but cropped so it doesn't get in the way. I've also been inspired by the utilitarian elements of military clothing recently, designed to be worn on the field, so when I mixed the two the name made sense.
Cargo pants, a belt, and boots for a more military inspired look, or sneakers and cargo pants / joggers.
